Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of SpeedReader Pro ("SpeedReader", the "Service"), operated by [Your Company / Legal Name] ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information and is part of these terms.
1. The Service
SpeedReader is a reading app: it presents text you supply or select from public catalogs one word or phrase at a time at a pace you choose, lets you track progress and bookmarks, and — optionally — generates AI study notes ("Scholar"). We may add, change, or remove features, and we may offer some features free and others for a fee.
2. Accounts
You can use the Service without an account. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live). You can delete your account at any time from within the app.
3. Your content
Text, documents, and articles you add to SpeedReader remain yours. You give us only the limited permission needed to store, sync, display, and (if Scholar is on) process passages of that content in order to provide the Service to you. You're responsible for having the right to use anything you add; don't upload content you aren't permitted to use. Books from public-domain catalogs are provided by those catalogs under their own terms.
4. AI-generated content
Scholar notes, briefings, and recaps are generated by an AI model and are provided to help you read — not as authoritative fact. They can be incomplete or wrong. We label AI content in the app and ask the model to avoid inventing facts, but you should verify anything that matters. AI content is provided "as is" and we aren't liable for decisions made in reliance on it. Scholar usage may be limited (for example, a daily cap) to keep the Service sustainable.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't: attempt to access other users' data; probe, overload, or attack our systems or use them to attack others; use the article reader or other features to bypass paywalls or infringe others' rights; upload malicious content; or use automated means to extract data or make requests at abusive volume. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access that violates these terms.
6. Paid features
If we offer paid plans, the price, billing period, and any free trial will be shown before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel before the next billing date to avoid being charged again. Purchases made through an app store are subject to that store's terms and refund policies. [Refund policy to be confirmed.]
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service reliable but don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify or discontinue features, or the Service, with reasonable notice where practical. You can export your data at any time from Settings.
8. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Speed-reading results vary; we make no promises about reading speed or comprehension outcomes.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as content rights, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [State/Country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of [venue], unless applicable law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will note the date at the top. For material changes we'll give notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
